T.REXFAQ

How can I order and install T.Rex as an internal employee from ZF?

There are two options:

a) Installation of T.Rex on a ZF-PC within Germany
In Germany, the software will be ordered either through the catalog of the "IT Self Service Portal" or the competent PC Coordinator. That varies from location to location. For example in Friedrichshafen T.Rex must be ordered via the relevant competent PC Coordinator.

Whether you can order at your location via the catalog or the PC Coordinator, you will see in the "IT Self Service Portal".
If you select „IT Service Endgeräte/Zusatzbeschaffung/Software“, a popup window with the information will appear: http://it-self-services.zf-world.com

There will be available to versions of T.Rex. You have to order the version ZF T.Rex 2.1.

How can I request, change or reset my password for T.Rex as an external user?

Because of the new security standard of the ZF informatics, in the future you can request, change or reset your password for T.Rex by yourself.

Your password can no longer be changed by a third party.

1. Click on the following link to request your personal initial password or to request it at a later date: https://pwdreset.zf.com

2. Your browser will open a page. Enter your user name, your e-mail address, as well as the displayed security code, and click on "Send".

2. The initial password will be very complicated. Therefore I recommend to use Strg + C to copy and paste the initial password.

Why am I only able to use the offline-application (or respectively the online-application)?

This happens when the personal settings have been changed. To be able to choose between online and offline application in the login window again,
go to [File] and click on the Icon [myT.Rex].

Then go to the subject area “Online/Offline“ and choose the Default-Setting [Offline and online, start with Offline (default)]. Finally, click on [save].

After quitting and reopening the program, you can choose as usual between online and offline application in the login screen again.

We strongly recommend to use the offline application.

Bigteaser
When do I use the offline or online application in T.Rex?

The clear recommendation is to use only the offline mode (faster, more comfortable and safer than the online mode).
The online application should only be used by users that never insert new data, but occasionally require analyses or evaluations from T.Rex.

In the Login screen you have the choice to register online or offline (Dropdown below [Password]).

Why does a red error message appear during the Synchronization process?

In case that you receive a red error message, you probably do not have network connection and thus, your computer is not able to communicate with the ZF-Server. Please first make sure that your computer is connected to the ZF network.

If there is no connection available, please ensure that your computer restores a network connection and then synchronize again.
In rare cases there is a problem with the ZF Server.

In this case please contact the T.RexTeam.

Contact: (click on the following blue text) T [dot] RexTeam [at] zf [dot] com

How do I proceed if a yellow error report appears after the Synchronization process?

Please synchronize one more time and the error report will disappear. If the error report still occurs, contact the T.RexTeam.

Why does the status bar on the lower left turn red?

If T.Rex has not been synchronized for more than a week, the status bar flash up on the lower left of the standard view.

(Note: If you have not synchronized for more than a month, only the button [synchronization] is active.
After the synchronization all features in the new T.Rex session are available again.

Bigteaser
When and how often do I have to synchronize the data set in T.Rex?

If you use T.Rex in the offline mode:

• If you are an intense user of T.Rex, you should synchronize on a daily basis
• Otherwise a synchronization at least 1x per week

Thus, it allows you and your colleagues to have constant access to a current data set.

When and how often do I have to compress in T.Rex?

Our recommendation:

• Intensely users should compress once per month
• Occasional users should compress once per half-year

Note: The underlying data bank in T.Rex is a Microsoft Access data bank. This will bloats up over time, thus T.Rex become slower and will cost storage space.

Is it possible to recover accidently deleted data in T.Rex?

Yes, this is partly possible in T.Rex. If you want to recover deleted data, you´ll find it in the recycle which you´ll find under the tab [file].

It needs to be considered, that the content of single cells cannot be recovered; only the deletion of complete data sets. I.e. if a cell is deleted, the content is lost, if a whole data set is deleted, it can be found in the recycle.

The recycle bin function only exists for the end customer modules bus, trucks, OEM, market data, tender and targets/budgets. The recycle bin does not exist for the functions under the tabs file, master data and tools.

Note: The recycle bin will be emptied automatically after exiting a T.Rex session in order to avoid unnecessary accumulation of data waste. I.e. if a T.Rex session is finished, deleted data cannot be recovered.

Who is accredited to edit market data/targets/budgets in T.Rex?

The rights to edit are held by the respective country director.

For the market data and for targets/budgets/postings the users have different user-rights which are shown in the following tables:

Writing rights and reading rights targets/budgets/postings/market data

Country Director

  TU/TTI/TTM/TTS/TTMS Local sales
Serial sales End customer sales national
Aims write write read
Budgets write write read
Bookings write write read
Market data read write write

Country Director

  TU/TTI/TTM/TTS/TTMS Local sales
Serial sales End customer sales national
Aims yes yes no
Budgets yes yes no
Bookings yes yes no
Market data no yes no

Thus, if you want to add e.g. current market data to the system, please contact the country director (end customer sales).

If you cannot find out the respective country director, please ask a T.Rex administrator.
